DID YOU KNOW THAT 1 IN 3 CHILDREN HAVE FEET THAT ARE DIFFERENT SIZES!
I’m sure you may have noticed that when you’ve had your children’s feet measured that there’s sometimes a half size or more difference in them. When children are growing, different parts of their body sometimes grow at different rates. As they grow older, you may find that everything evens out or that there is less of a difference in size. Fitting shoes shouldn’t be too much of a problem when the size difference is only half a size, but if it becomes more than a whole size difference, for example, one foot measures an 8G and the other measures a 9.5G then you are in the realms of buying two pairs of shoes.
Hush Puppies invented an innovative system to help deal with this problem – their ‘fit left, fit right’ system. Each pair of Hush Puppies children’s shoes, with the odd exception like open toe sandals and some boots, comes with a set of foot beds that are moulded to that particular shoe. There are 3 sets of footbeds:
Red – width fitting E
Yellow – width fitting F
Blue – width fitting G
These footbeds can also be used in combination to create a D fitting or an H fitting, sometimes changing the shoe size too, for example going up half a size for an H fitting. These footbeds can be used to adjust both the length and the width of the shoe. It’s a very clever system that raises and lowers the foot in the shoe moving the foot to a wider or narrower part of the shoe. The shoe tapers inwards as it goes over the foot therefore making it narrower the higher your foot sits in the shoe. So using a combination of footbeds for each individual shoe can allow a professionally trained shoe fitter to accommodate differently sized feet. All Shoes On staff are trained to measure children’s feet and fit children’s shoes. Shoes On also stock hush puppies shoes for boys, girls and babies. If you are at all concerned about the difference in your child’s feet then please contact your GP who can refer you to the relevant podiatrist or health professional in your area.
